UN Women: Programme Associate, Santiago, Chile - NPSA 7

UN Women: Programme Associate, Santiago, Chile - NPSA 7

Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.

UN Women has a global commitment to accelerate the sustainable development agenda through women’s economic empowerment. Aligned with the Gender Equality Accelerator (GEA) on Women and the World of Work, initiatives in Chile aim to advance women’s entrepreneurship, promote gender-responsive procurement (GRP) across public and private sectors, and foster enabling markets for women. The GEA applies a comprehensive approach to women’s economic empowerment by promoting job creation, leadership, economic autonomy, and decent working conditions free from violence and harassment, while addressing discriminatory norms through policy and programmatic reform.

Recognizing the transformative power of procurement to influence financial flows and gender outcomes, the GEA leverages GRP to ensure governments and private sector organizations adopt gender-responsive policies and increase procurement from women-owned, women-led, and gender-responsive businesses.
