Job Description Summary

The primary purpose of the Sterile Processing/Scope technician is to assist in direct patient care by ensuring the OR staff has correct, fully functional, sterile instrumentation delivered in a timely manner consistent with the highest standards of customer service. Responsibilities include cleaning endoscopy scopes and equipment, along with performing the four basic departmental functions (decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch) effectively.

Essential Functions

• Effectively communicates with co-workers and all other hospital personnel.
• Delivers scheduled case carts and manages inventory.
• Performs cleaning and decontamination duties.
• Disinfects and cleans endoscopy scopes according to standards.
• Operates processing equipment and monitors sterilization activities.

Shift Requirements

Shift Length: 8 - 10 hours, depending on schedule

Certification Requirements

Certification in sterile processing from a nationally recognized organization is required within 12-months of the hire date.
