About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to build, operate, and scale OfferUp’s batch and near real-time data processing platforms. This is a highly visible role that directly impacts data-driven capabilities across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture of data solutions and platform.
• Mentor and guide other engineers.
• Set engineering best practices and propose large projects.
• Design applications to process critical data efficiently.
• Influence the company's technical direction and evaluate new technologies.
• Enhance the engineering maturity of a growing team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong background in distributed systems for large scale data.
• Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with open source data projects and scalable data pipelines.
• Cloud experience with AWS or similar environments is a plus.
• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required.
• Fluency in English is essential.
