Specialty Doctor - General Medicine- Anaphylaxis

Specialty Doctor - General Medicine- Anaphylaxis

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday

This is a Fixed term post for 12 months

This is an exciting opportunity to develop an understanding and expertise in Anaphylaxis medicine. Anaphylaxis affects 1/50 adults in the UK, and limits the quality of life due to carrying medicines, avoidance of triggers and anxiety.

Anaphylaxis medicine allows patients to gain control over their condition, developing independence and reducing the risk of anaphylactic death. The UK has few adult allergy services and the West of Scotland service is the only dedicated adult allergy service in Scotland.

This post offers an unrivalled opportunity to develop a candidate’s experience in this common, important but under-resourced specialty. Successful candidates will learn the management strategies for food, latex, drug and wasp/bee venom allergy.

They will work with an experienced and expert multi-disciplinary team including specialist nurses, dieticians and doctors from a variety of backgrounds. Due to the high number of applicants this post may close early. Interviews will be held 2 weeks following the post closing.
