Senior Nurse - Infection Control - MRP

The Monklands Replacement Project Team are responsible for bringing together the strategic delivery of services and will plan, procure and deliver a New Acute Hospital. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Infection Prevention & Control Nurse (IPC) to provide senior specialist leadership and assurance for the new build project. This is a unique opportunity to influence the construction, commissioning and opening of a new healthcare facility, ensuring infection prevention and control principles are embedded throughout these phases through to live clinical operation.

The Role

As a Subject Matter Expert You Will

  • Provide strategic IPC leadership and assurance throughout the construction, commissioning and handover phases of the new hospital.
  • Lead IPC input into the built environment, including clinical layouts, patient and staff flows, environmental finishes, isolation facilities and cleanabiity
  • Provide IPC oversight of water safety arrangements, ventilation systems and other high-risk infrastructure, working in line with relevant national guidance and standards.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively with NHSL MRP stakeholders, design teams, project managers and contractors to ensure the hospital is safe, compliant and fit for purpose from an IPC perspective.
  • Challenge and influence design and construction decisions to ensure IPC standards are met.
  • Contribute to the development of IPC assurance documentation, risk assessments and reports.
  • Ensure IPC systems and controls are embedded and sustainable within the future operational hospital.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent framework
  • Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development
  • Professional, leadership and managerial experience within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the health care agenda.
  • Experience of assessing training needs
  • Experience of resource management i.e. financial; human; capital
  • Experience in service planning, project management and performance monitoring/reporting
  • Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of related data
  • A proven track record in sound and effective leadership. Ability to think strategically, corporately and act as a team player
  • A proven track record in developing innovative solutions in meeting organisational requirements and motivating staff to affect change
  • A proven track record in developing teams/services and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Evidence of continued professional courses, which include infection prevention and control in the Healthcare Built Environment.
  • Evidence of involvement in healthcare Built Environment Projects.
  • Effective communication and liaison with both internal and external project personnel.
  • Knowledge of national guidance documents which form the framework for best practice for healthcare built environment infrastructure.
