Security Officer
- To be observant in helping to reduce/ prevent crime on the UHM Site
- To assist in providing a safe and secure environment for Patients, Staff, Visitors
- To undertake regular patrol of the internal and external site of the UHM sites.
- To provide help and advice to Patients, Visitors and Staff
- To be an advocate for NHSL whilst undertaking their role.

What we'll need you to bring
- Level of H&S Knowledge in line with NHSL and departmental policies and (SOP’s)
- Communication skills that are supportive, empathetic, compassionate and have the ability to de-escalate difficult conversations
- Knowledge of site lay out
- Basic knowledge of CCTV
- Requires a professional and sympathetic approach to people
- To be physically fit and be able to understand and react correctly and quickly to incidents remaining competent under pressure.
- Use of communication equipment
- Use of monitoring systems
- Completion of mandatory training as specified within core competencies
- Must be capable of writing accurate reports
- Violence and aggression Training – Level 1 &2
- Enhanced Disclosure Scotland clearance
- To be competent in the use of all department equipment/ personal protective equipment
- Whilst it would be an advantage for new members to have had previous experience in the security industry, it is not essential.
- All staff will be required to undertake on the job training.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
- Good standards of general education incorporating: Literacy, Numeracy and Manual Dexterity
- Recognised SVQ or equivalent qualification relating to post
- Keen to learn and willing to complete statutory and departmental training
- Whilst it would be an advantage for new members to have had previous experience in the security industry, it is not essential
- Demonstrable experience in a busy hospital environment
- Understanding of the principles of Health and Safety
- Understanding of the principles of general security duties
- Knowledge of systems, processes and security
- Ability to follow instructions, policies and procedures
- Good Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work alone or part of a team
- Competence in completion of documentation
- Understanding of Information Technology
- Ability to work and communicate with patients/public
- Flexible attitude
- Calm under pressure
- Excellent personal appearance and disposition
- Willingness to learn
- Permanent

Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Security within University Hospital Monklands
The working pattern for this role: The post is working on a rotational 2 days 1900-0700 to cover the service.
