The Role:
The SAP Project Manager is a fixed term role (approximately 12-14 months) to support Lundin Mining’s initiatives to harmonize SAP systems for its Chilean operations and to improve Finance reporting capabilities. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this role will work closely with the implementation partner project managers and will be responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered on budget, on schedule and within scope. The SAP Project Manager will also work closely with the Lundin Mining Business Lead, IT Leads and Business Process Owners, some of whom may be based in Vancouver, Canada or Geneva, Switzerland. This full-time role will be based at the Lundin Mining Regional Office in Santiago, Chile.
Project Overview:
- Migration of two existing SAP instances (ECC and S/4 HANA) on to an existing global instance of SAP S/4 HANA.
- Harmonization of processes and data among Chilean operations, particularly within finance, supply chain and payroll, leveraging an existing global template with necessary localization.
- Implementation of SAP Group Reporting and alignment with financial reporting systems.
- SAP footprint includes Finance, Supply Chain (procurement and logistics & inventory management), EAM, Project Systems, SuccessFactors (Employee Central Payroll), Production Planning and Sales & Distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of Lundin Mining project team’s performance of project tasks.
- Development of the project plan in collaboration with the Lundin Mining project team, targeting go-live dates of January 1, 2027 and February 1, 2027.
- Work with the implementation partner Project Manager to oversee the overall Project planning and progress toward agreed-upon goals across all aspects of the implementation effort.
- Contribute to and review the overall Project Plan; including coordinating task dependencies and establishing Milestone Project goals that keep the Project on time and within budget.
- Manage the governance procedures for change control, decision-making, risk management, and issue resolution, including documenting the procedures and publishing the log documents for the team.
- Contribute to and help manage the status reporting template, procedure, and cadence, gaining alignment from the Lundin project leadership and managing the cadence with the team.
- With the implementation partner Project Manager, track progression throughout the phases and sub-phases of the Project and report on adherence to the Project’s stated scope, timeline, resources, and budget to the project leadership group.
- Contribute to and review the toll gate entrance and exit criteria.
- Directly manage the Lundin resources with the Business Lead and IT Lead.
- Securing the acceptance and approval of deliverables from the project sponsors and stakeholders or high-level functional representatives.
- Communication, including status reporting, risk management and escalation of issues that cannot be resolved within the team.
What You Bring:
- Five or more years of experience leading complex SAP projects, including upgrades from SAP ECC to SAP S/4 HANA
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English is required
- Experience in the mining industry (or other heavy industry) would be an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with different groups and levels within the organization
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities
- The ability to travel to mine sites within Chile, although extensive travel is not required
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours on an occasional basis, particularly during system testing and go-live periods
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required
