Job Overview

The Patient Care Assistant/Unit Coordinator provides clerical and clinical support on the unit under the guidance of Licensed Nursing Personnel. Effective communication with patients, families, and health personnel is essential, and all tasks must be executed professionally and compassionately.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately transcribe and compute physician orders.
• Organize and maintain patient medical records.
• Create admission charts and manage discharge documentation.
• Respond promptly to communications and manage messages effectively.
• Manage patient information requests and data collection.
• Monitor and document vital signs and other patient metrics.
• Assist with patient hygiene and comfort needs.

Additional Duties

• Organize equipment and maintain cleanliness on the unit.
• Safely operate medical equipment.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and HIPAA compliance policies.
• Assist in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Support the orientation of new personnel.

9 West is a 10-bed surgical trauma intensive care unit, specializing in the care of patients with a diverse range of injuries. Staff are trained to effectively support not only patients but also their families and loved ones during challenging times.
