Lead Data Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the implementation of highly scalable and robust architectures for NoSQL database technologies, supporting both cloud and on-premise solutions.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning and troubleshooting, offering expert recommendations and resolving production issues by conducting root cause analysis across the architecture stack.
  • Establish and enforce best practices within the team to ensure high-quality database operations.
  • Define SLA, SLO, and build related SLI dashboards to enable service-level performance monitoring and observability.
  • Evaluate emerging Cassandra and NoSQL technologies, lead proof-of-concept processes, and provide detailed risk assessments and insights.
  • Plan for database growth, manage capacity, and oversee the lifecycle of current open-source database platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or team management role.
  • Deep expertise in NoSQL database systems, including architecture design, with domain expertise in at least two technologies such as Cassandra, ScyllaDB, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools like Ansible or Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database solutions and related ecosystems, including EC2, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, AMI, Security Groups, and VPC/Subnet/Route53 concepts.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python, Java, Django, or Go.
  • Strong familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • In-depth knowledge of data store technologies, including relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken, at a B2 level or higher.
