Imports Analyst
This position is responsible for supporting Global Ocean Transport and Trade Control with the local requirements, finding solid freight forwarders that can offer competitive rates, right free-time according to local custom clearance process and routes with low transshipments, avoiding delays in returning containers, compliance with laws and local regulatory to avoid customs sanctions and fines that are costly and can lead to the temporary closure of a company. Ensure the flow of the international supply chain of finished products from Ásia, Mexico and USA to Chile, ensuring planning with shipping companies, freight forwarders, customs agents and local transport, complying with the times established in each market and compliance with the regulations to which it applies.
The role of this position is relevant to be part and accomplish with the fill rate of all customers, and responsible for having on time the containers planned based on the forecast process and inventory availability at the origin.
A Day in the life of an Imports Analyst :
Shipping, Customs & Inbound Coordination (45%)
- Approve shipments at origin and tracking potential delays.
- Coordinate customs clearance at San Antonio and Valparaíso ports.
- Prepare documentation, images, and certifications for customs classification and compliance (including HTS and toluene-related documents).
- Ensure funds are available for tax payments and that customs paperwork meets all legal standards.
- Manage delivery from port to warehouse and container scheduling.
- Review and approve invoices and inputting cost data into the SONDA system.
- Coordination of team activities and provide updates on shipments and estimated arrival times (ETA) for planning and Available to Promise (ATP) processes.
- Planning and following up on activities with carriers and customs brokers to ensure service efficiency.
- Analyze potential new suppliers, comparing costs and legal implications, and supporting final decision-making on vendor selection.
- Bachelor of Engineering in Foreign Trade
- 5 years of experience in import and export logistics processes
- International agreements course
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
- Knowledge of SAP for import work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in negotiating rates with freight forwarders, shipping companies and customs agents
- Coordination of shipments from origin
- Fluent in English
