Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE) is the most experienced deep-field operator in Antarctica, providing a wide range of guided experiences, air support, logistical back-up and safety cover for governmental research programs, independent expeditions, and tourists. ALE is a Utah company with a year-round office in Salt Lake City, a seasonal operations support office in Punta Arenas, Chile, and several seasonal field camps in Antarctica.
Seasonal Information
Guest Liaisons in Punta Arenas generally work from October to through the end of January.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Salt Lake Booking office, Antarctic guide crews and guests to prepare them for their trip to Antarctica
- Welcome guests upon arrival in Punta Arenas
- Prepare guest itineraries and communicate a pre-departure plan
- Review guest's polar clothing and equipment necessary for their program or communicate the requirements to the group leader
- Prepare rental clothing, facilitate any size changes, and collect payment
- Review guest documentation and collect outstanding paperwork
- Upload administrative documentation to company platforms
- Host guide or group leader meetings to discuss logistics and present departure briefings to large groups of guests
- Provide flight and weather updates and manage expectations during delays
- Collect and store luggage in warehouses and maintain detailed inventories
- Compile guest information including notes on equipment, and trip expectations and send to Antarctic field staff
- Provide guests with information around Punta Arenas including outfitters, gear shops, transportation options, and restaurants
- Assist with changes or extensions to hotel reservations
- Assist with the check-in and baggage drop off process at the airport
- Coordinate airport transfers, bus routes and baggage movements
- Physically assist with transportation of polar clothing and sleeping bags to the laundromat
- Thrive in both fast and slow-paced environments
- Maintain a professional presentation and service orientated approach to guests

- Personable, and able to mix well with a diverse range of clients and staff

- Have an empathetic approach, and ability to socialize with guests to be at ease
- Timely and organized with an eye for detail.
Must have previous customer service and guest relations experience. Must be fluent in both verbal and written English.
Preferred qualifications include strong computer skills, and some cold weather camping experience.
