The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the University Hospital Hairmyres, West of Scotland Vascular Service for an assistant practitioner to provide ongoing rehabilitation to patients while in hospital and supporting efficient discharge planning.
Duties
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic AHP Assistant Practitioner who has experience of working within a rehabilitation setting. Duties will include:
- Working under the supervision of registered therapy staff to assist patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
- Undertake baseline assessments within clearly defined parameters for the identified service.
- Implement, adapt, and progress treatment programmes within agreed protocols and defined parameters.
- Use specialist technical and practical skills to deliver flexible, patient-centred programmes across a variety of clinical settings.
- Discharge or transition care within agreed protocols and defined parameters.

What we'll need you to bring
Qualifications And Experience
- HNC in healthcare, education or social care or SVQ III in healthcare, education or social care or equivalent experience in a health, education or social care environment.
- Short specialist courses relevant to the specific clinical area.
- Full driving licence holder.
Knowledge and Skills
- Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
- Knowledge of the therapeutic process, techniques and/or activities relevant to the client group.
- Basic assessment skills.
- Ability to apply a range of technical and practical rehabilitation skills.
- Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Time management, planning, and organisational skills.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and develop new skills and maintain a record of learning.
- Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have
- Breadth of experience in therapy or rehabilitation/re-ablement in a health, education, or social care environment.
Contract type
Permanent, Full time, 37 hours.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Occupational Therapy within University Hospital Hairmyres. The working pattern for this role TBC. Applicants who are shortlisted for interview may be considered for similar vacancies in alternative locations.
