Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is one of five regional Commissions of the United Nations, contributing to economic and social development since 1948. This internship in the Statistics Division involves assisting in data collection, supporting report preparation, and collaborating on special projects.

  • Assisting in data collection, validation, and cleaning processes.
  • Supporting report preparation, including trade statistics and national accounts.
  • Maintaining and organizing statistical databases.
  • Collaborating on special projects related to economic statistics.

Qualifications/Special Skills

Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed their final year of a university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent) or be in a graduate program. Prior professional experience is not required, but a relevant field of study is necessary.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required; proficiency in English and French is also necessary. Knowledge of additional UN languages is advantageous.

Intern Specific Information

Interns will not receive financial remuneration from the United Nations. They are responsible for their own travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses. Candidates may need to obtain the appropriate visa before accepting the internship.
