Job Overview

FM is currently seeking an Engineer with process or loss prevention experience within the Molten Metal industry to join our South American Engineering Team. This position allows for remote work from a home office when not in the field.

Join our team as a Consultant Engineer, leveraging your background to help clients mitigate potential disasters, thus saving both property and businesses. With almost two centuries of expertise, you'll engage with some of the world's leading organizations, aiding them in understanding risks and protecting their valuable assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the integrity and reliability of equipment, identify hazards and deficiencies to deliver focused risk improvement solutions and reduce equipment risk.
  • Utilize Operating standards, data sheets, and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.
  • Prepare engineering reports and loss expectancies to support risk improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations Engineering, Client Services, Account Management, and Underwriting on Boiler & Machinery recommendations.
  • Manage time effectively while working independently from a home office.
  • Travel to large, complex industrial client sites, evaluating operations and identifying risks and hazards, with expected overnight travel ranging from 75 to 100 nights per year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, focusing on electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a related field.
  • Location: Santiago, Chile.
  • Experience in high hazard industries, preferably the Molten Metal industry.
  • Strong understanding of basic machinery and equipment with hands-on exposure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Analytical, organized, with strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-driven with self-learning capabilities.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Portuguese is preferred.
  • A valid B1/B2 USA visa is desirable.
