About the Role

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Clinical Vascular Scientist to join our Vascular Scientist Ultrasound Service (VSUS) based at University Hospital Hairmyres (UHH).

Job Responsibilities

This role offers an opportunity to be part of an innovative service within the Vascular Surgical team. UHH serves as the South West Scotland Regional hub for vascular surgery, providing high-quality vascular ultrasound investigations for both inpatient and outpatient populations.

Work Environment

The department features a well-equipped, air-conditioned lab with vascular scanning rooms and a multipurpose clinical room, conducting a comprehensive range of vascular ultrasound examinations.

Working Hours

The unit operates Monday to Friday, with flexible hours between 8 am and 6 pm. Applications from those seeking part-time hours are encouraged.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate should possess advanced specialist vascular knowledge, supported by theory and practical experience.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and vascular pathology.
  • Expertise in blood flow haemodynamics.
  • Proficiency in ultrasound physics and instrumentation.
  • Ability to produce and interpret high-quality vascular images and data.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and audit processes.

Training and Qualifications

Must be fully qualified as an Accredited Vascular Scientist (AVS), with a postgraduate qualification from the Society for Vascular Technology of Great Britain and Ireland.

Experience

Technical skills required include competence in various types of scans and assessments.

Service Skills

Strong organizational, motivational, and teamwork skills are essential, along with adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Contract Details

Permanent, full-time role (37 hours) with flexible working hours.
