The Role

Working as part of Catering team to deliver of a range of food and beverages in line with Food Hygiene legislation and NHS Lanarkshire policies and procedures to meet the nutritional needs of Patients, Staff, and users of NHS Lanarkshire services

To work alongside and support new staff in the working environment.

Various Kitchen Duties Including

  • Delivering to wards
  • Dealing with Patients and customers
  • Front of house serving & cash handling
  • Working for lengthy periods of time in fridges & freezers

What we'll need you to bring

  • Knowledge of catering standards and related procedures.
  • Required to undertake on the job training and induction (this will generally take 4-6 weeks, depending on hours/days worked), to achieve full competency across a range of duties.
  • Working knowledge Health & Safety including participation in risk assessing individual tasks
  • Undertake and complete NHSS Catering Services Workbook.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
  • Required to obtain the Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • SVQ or relevant qualification
  • Experience within a catering environment
  • Knowledge of systems and processes e.g. HACCP; manual handling; management of aggression; infection control; COSHH; fire safety; cash handling/reconciliation

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Catering department within University Hospital Monklands.

The working pattern for this role: Monday to Friday, 4pm-8pm
