Job Details Description Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) & Security Coordinator. NOIRLab is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) & Security Coordinator to help ensure the safety and security of our people, facilities, and operations across Chilean sites, including observatories, with a strong emphasis on patrimonial security, protection of critical infrastructure, and safeguarding our office, residential housing and industrial sites. What You Will Do Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive patrimonial security programs to protect personnel, assets, and infrastructure in observatory, office, industrial and residential housing environments.Coordinate and oversee physical security, including security contractor, access control, surveillance systems (CCTV), alarm systems, and perimeter protection.Conduct risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments (TVAs) for office and observatory environments, risk assessment, identifying and mitigating potential physical and workplace security breaches.Supervise and evaluate security contractor's, ensuring compliance with established physical security standards and operational readiness at all times.Lead and document incident investigations, coordinating with local authorities and internal stakeholders as needed.Lead in the development and implementation of our Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Support EHS activities such as safety audits, emergency and disaster preparedness and response, compliance checks.Ensure adherence to national and international (USA and Chile) regulations, standards and codes in both patrimonial security and occupational safety. Promote a culture of accountability, risk awareness, and operational discipline in all security and safety-related areas. Preferred Qualifications Technical degree in Health and Safety, Security, or a related field.Valid OS-10 certification issued by Carabineros de Chile.Hold an active industry certification issued by ASIS International as a Physical Security Professional (PSP) or a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) Minimum Qualifications Experience in physical security, ideally in sectors such as mining, energy, or scientific/technical infrastructure.Proven ability to manage and supervise guard services, contractor teams, and on-site security operations.Knowledge of industrial and patrimonial protection systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and emergency coordination.At least 5 years of combined experience in safety and security, with a strong focus on patrimonial or physical protection.At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.Familiarity with risk management methodologies, emergency protocols, and contingency planning.Excellent communication and training skills in both English and Spanish.English level (preferred): Able to communicate effectively in most everyday and professional situations, write clear reports, and participate in technical discussions.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.Willingness and ability to travel to observatory sites and perform field work. Physical And Other Requirements Must be able to work at altitudes up to 2,700+ meters (Cerro Tololo & Cerro Pachón).Valid driver’s license required; ability to drive in remote terrain.May require medical clearance post-offer and periodically during employment. We invite to apply for the position of Property Administrator, to be based at its facilities in La Serena -Chile, with periodic visits to the Cerro Tololo and Cerro Pachón observatories. The primary purpose of this position is to manage and maintain AURA’s asset inventory in Chile, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and the regulations of funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation (NSF). This role is essential to guarantee proper traceability, documentation, and disposition of institutional property. Key Responsibilities Manage AURA’s property control system, ensuring that all assets are properly recorded, classified, and tagged.Coordinate and carry out annual inventory inspections, verifying the location, condition, and documentation of assets.Maintain up-to-date inventory records in coordination with the CAS Accounting department and AURA Centers in Chile.Assign control numbers and inventory tags to new assets, recording their information in institutional databases.Lead the asset disposal and auction processes, ensuring compliance with contractual and NSF requirements.Develop and maintain lists of recycling and e-waste vendors.Prepare and submit annual inventory reports and other property reports required by AURA or external agencies.Review and update property management procedures as needed.Collaborate with the Logistics team in receiving, documenting, and photographing materials that require tagging.Provide support to internal departments in matters related to property administration, transfer, or disposal.
