Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) – Location / Ireland / Professional English Required Location: Ireland (Nationwide Projects) Sector: Commercial Buildings / Residential / Data Centres / Pharmaceuticals / Industrial** Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Language Requirement: Fluent English Experience Required: Minimum 5 Years About the Role We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong HVAC expertise to join a leading engineering and construction team in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and mechanical building services across large commercial, residential, pharmaceutical, and industrial projects. This role offers exposure to high-spec Irish building projects including data centres, hospitals, mixed-use developments, and advanced manufacturing facilities, with excellent opportunities for career progression. Key Responsibilities Mechanical & HVAC Design Produce and review detailed HVAC system designs including ductwork, chilled water, hot water, VRF, ventilation, and air-handling systems.Perform heat load calculations, airflow modelling, equipment selection, and energy performance analysis.Prepare sizing calculations, schematics, layouts, and mechanical schedules. Project & Site Coordination Coordinate HVAC installations on-site to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and Irish building regulations.Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, architects, M&E teams, and specialist suppliers.Participate in commissioning, testing, and handover activities for mechanical systems. Safety & Compliance Ensure all mechanical works meet Irish and EU building codes, including TGD Part L and CIBSE/ASHRAE standards.Prepare RAMS, method statements, and ensure adherence to site safety requirements. Quality & Documentation Prepare reports, O&M manuals, inspection records, and as-built documentation.Review submittals, technical datasheets, and shop drawings for approval. Commercial & QS Support Assist in measurement, take-offs, procurement, cost tracking, and variation assessments.Provide technical input for tender documentation and subcontractor evaluations. Required Skills & Experience Essential Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.Minimum 5 years’ experience working with HVAC/mechanical building services.Strong experience with ductwork, pipework, HVAC plant, and mechanical building systems.Excellent understanding of Irish/European building regulations and standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE, EN).Fluent English (written and spoken).Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, schematics, and BIM models.Strong coordination and problem-solving skills. Desirable Experience with data centres, pharma facilities, or complex building services systems.Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Hevacomp, IES, Navisworks.Knowledge of LEED/BREEAM or sustainable building design principles.Safe Pass and Manual Handling (can be obtained upon arrival).

This includes visits to client and/or potential client sites to determine suitability and ensure project accuracy. Surveys are conducted using 3D scanners, total stations, laser levels, combined with manual measurements and photographs, ensuring site conditions align with tender drawings and design documents. The Site Surveyor will work closely with the Lead Engineer and Design Manager, and will report to the Commercial & Technical Manager to ensure the smooth running of the site surveying process and maintain high standards. The Site Surveyor is responsible for ensuring all sites are surveyed accurately and that relevant and appropriate information is provided to all relevant departments.
